Next.app DevCon 2026: Talks We're Excited About
next.app devCon starts this week (October 7–9) in Berlin. It folds together droidCon, swiftCon, flutterCon, reactCon, agentic codingCon, a cross-framework track and a tech-lead summit into one event with over 400 sessions.
Touchlab will be giving talks (see below) and will also be manning a booth in the sponsor floor. Stop by to say hello, ask Tadeas about Kotlin Hot Reload, and discover what Touchlab can do for you.
Our Talks
Of course we are excited about the talks being given by Touchlabers:
Advanced Kotlin Native Integration
Tadeas Kriz will be diving deep into the mechanics of Kotlin Native builds and it’s impacts on your project structure. As more and larger teams adopt KMP, new patterns need to be established to handle the variety and complexity of project structures. Large projects are often broken up into multiple repositories managed by multiple teams. Scaling KMP into these projects can be difficult due to Kotlin Native’s single framework limitation. Tadeas has helped navigate these issues at several of Touchlab’s enterprise clients and will be sharing his insights here.
Native Mobile and AI
Kevin Galligan will be bringing an honest discussion of how AI is changing the equation of development across multiple platforms. The cost of building independent Android and iOS apps has drastically reduced. But AI development introduces new challenges of its own. How do you keep platforms aligned as the pace of change increases? How do you build a solid foundation for your agents? These are important questions for any mobile team in 2026.
Other Interesting Talks
Swift Export: Where We Stand
Pamela Hill-Galloway from JetBrains will be giving an update on Swift Export. The project promises to bring big changes to the way KMP projects are consumed. It will be great to hear where it’s at and what improvements we can expect going forward.
Native vs. Cross-Platform: The Future of Mobile App Development
This panel will bring together experts from Android, Flutter, Swift, and React Native to debate the future of Mobile development. The role of cross platform in modern mobile has be a hot topic (which we recently weighed in on). We’re excited to hear more expert opinions.
What’s New in Compose Multiplatform: Better Shared UI for iOS and Beyond
Like Pamela’s discussion of Swift Export, Márton Braun and Sebastian Aigner will be delivering an update on CMP. We’re especially excited to hear about the improved liquid glass support since designers have started expecting that on the iOS side.
